Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title since the Rome competition and first on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour title, took control to push for a third set.

He saved four early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
